Heirloom Portrait Drawing Coaching

Create a personal heirloomportrait of someone you love.

For adults who have always wanted to draw but never felt confident enough to begin, Tameka Art offers six weeks of patient live guidance to help you turn a meaningful photograph into a handmade portrait you can display, gift, or pass down.

You are not copying a photograph. You are honoring a person.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM RUBERTHA

Portrait artist Rubertha seated at her drawing table beside a graphite family portrait in her home studio.

Dear Future Portrait Artist,

The photograph you are carrying is not just a reference image. It holds a person, a memory, and part of your family’s story. It is for this reason that I do not want to place you inside a general drawing course where everyone completes the same assignment.

During this six-week experience, your portrait will be the center of every lesson. We will work from your chosen photograph. I will help you understand what you are seeing, place each feature carefully, develop the likeness, and add the values that bring the portrait to life.

You will not spend months trying to determine what went wrong by yourself. I will look at your drawing with you, show you what is working, and help you identify the next thoughtful correction. This course is not about rushing toward a perfect drawing. It is about helping you develop the skill and confidence to create something meaningful with your own hands.

By the end of our time together, you will have created a portrait of someone you love and learned a process you can use to begin your next family heirloom.

With encouragement,

Rubertha

Six Weeks From Photograph to Heirloom

Week 1

Choose the Story

We select a meaningful photograph and prepare your materials and drawing plan.

Week 2

Build the Foundation

You learn to measure, place, and establish the portrait accurately.

Week 3

Develop the Features

We study the eyes, nose, mouth, and their relationships within your particular portrait.

Week 4

Strengthen the Likeness

We compare proportions, make thoughtful corrections, and help the person begin to emerge.

Week 5

Create Form and Depth

You use light, shadow, and value to give the portrait dimension.

Week 6

Refine the Heirloom

We strengthen the final details, recognize what you have accomplished, and prepare you to continue creating.

You will not be expected to keep pace with another student's portrait. We will respect the needs of your drawing while continuing to move toward completion.

You Will Not Be Left to Struggle Alone

During the experience, you receive:

  1. One private, one-hour portrait lesson each week
  2. Instruction based on your photograph and drawing
  3. A manageable assignment for the time you have available
  4. Meaningful feedback between lessons
  5. Access to a private and encouraging Skool community
  6. Focused art tips related to each stage of the portrait
  7. A clear next step whenever you feel uncertain
  8. A method you can continue using after the course

You May Be Wondering…

You do not need to arrive feeling confident. We will begin with your current skills and strengthen them one step at a time.

Beginners are welcome. I will help you choose a photograph that is meaningful and appropriate for your present experience.

You will not have to diagnose every problem alone. I will help you see what needs attention and explain how to approach it.

We will identify the most important next step and create a manageable drawing plan. Missing a drawing session does not mean that you have failed.

The goal is meaningful progress toward a completed portrait while developing a process you can continue using. Your growth will not be measured against someone else’s pace.

What You Will Carry Forward

At the end of this experience, I want you to leave with more than a drawing.

You will have:

  1. A portrait of someone you love
  2. A deeper understanding of facial structure, proportion, likeness, and value
  3. Greater confidence in your artistic decisions
  4. A practical process for approaching future portraits
  5. Proof that you can make room for meaningful creative work
  6. The beginning of a collection your family can treasure

The transformation is not simply:

“I learned how to draw a face.”

It is:

“I created a portrait of someone I love, and now I know how to begin another.”

Let Us Talk About the Portrait You Want to Create

You do not need to know whether your photograph is suitable or whether your skills are ready.

During a private Zoom conversation, you can show me the photograph you are considering, tell me why this person matters to you, and ask questions about the experience. Together, we can determine whether this is the right next step for you.
